NIGERIA: THE LEADERSHIP AGAINST THE LED FOR THE SAKE OF WEALTH AND POWER AS THE PDP RULING PARTY WANT TO RETAIN POWER AT ALL COST BY ABBATI BAKO,psc The experts assert that there is a link between power and wealth. Power and wealth are two inseparable elements all over the world; especially among politicians. Politicians do not want loose political power for them to continue accumulating wealth particularly in less developed democracies. Wealth and power are interwoven that no politician tested its recipe will allow it slippery from his hands. The current leaders of Nigeria are doing everything humanly possible to retain the power at the Center at all cost. But the question one may ask; is it democracy? Does the concept of democracy is for the leaders to accumulate nations wealth and continue to dominate the political power at all cost? What is currently happening in Nigerian nation portrays the inability of the leaders to properly take the nation to promise land. When President Jonathan promised Nigerians fresh air if elected in 2011; it was expected that his transformation agenda will move Nigeria forward as it did happened in Brazil. But unfortunately the reverse is the case. Because, Nigeria is now in a doom. Nigeria is now facing series of crises that may lead to political and economic oblivion or failed state. The security challenges facing the nation; Nigeria lost glory in the eyes of the world. The corruption scandal of $20billion is a threat not only to Nigerias economy, but global economy. The abduction of school girls in Chibok (the presidency seriously feeling the heat and calculating the political consequences in 2015 elections) is a failure of the leaders to safeguard and protect the life of each and every citizen of Nigeria (especially the mothers of our future leaders). How does the world looks at us as a nation? Does the investors feel free to invest in a country where there is insecurity? This weeks African economic forum is just a mirage. Why the leaders are after accumulating wealth and trying to retain power at all cost for 60 years? Some of the principles of globalization policy are integration of global economy and multi-culturalism. Who is ready to bring his wealth and invest into a country where corruption is like a rain season? In my candid view, the President Jonathan and his ruling party (PDP) will soon disappear in the political sphere of this nation. This is due to the reason that they failed to change Nigeria for the better. For the past 15 years as a ruling party; the nations problems are getting worst. Particularly the insecurity is now measured by hours not day, week or month. The unemployment, the epileptic power energy and economic aridity is everywhere in Nigeria. What is the solution? The answer is simple. All need in Nigeria is committed, determined and patriotic leaders that will be able to unite the nation---pure and simple. May God save Nigeria and Nigerians. Abbati Bako, psc
