NINE UKRAINIAN SOLDIERS AND AT LEAST FOUR CIVILIANS DIED IN EASTERN UKRAINE ---------------------------------------------------- Nine Ukrainian soldiers and at least four civilians died in eastern Ukraine in the past day despite a ceasefire. National Security and Defence Council spokesman added that some of the losses came when the rebels destroyed a Ukrainian armoured personnel carrier. He said the losses occurred when the insurgents made another attempt to take over the Donetsk airport outside the rebel-held city which is still held by the Ukrainian army. The toll was the highest daily figure since a shaky truce went into effect on September 5. Since then, a total of 57 people have died. Last week, Poroshenko said the most dangerous part of the crisis in the east had passed, predicting that his peace deal with the pro-Russian rebels would hold.
