NO EBOLA VIRUS IN OAU -VC The authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state, have declared that the student suspected to have contacted Ebola virus disease is free of the disease after all. This was the outcome of the preliminary test conducted to confirm whether the disease has infected her. Osun state correspondent, Adeniyi Folorunso report that Earlier this week, the rumour of Ebola disease in obafemi Awolowo University was everywhere. Though, there is case of a suspected female Ebola virus carrier on the campus of the Obafemi Awolowo university. The female student was quickly sent to the Ebola Isolation Centre in Lagos for further clinical and laboratory investigations. Addressing a press conference in Ile-Ife, the Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife announced that the preliminary results and confirmatory tests have proved that the lady is negative to Ebola virus disease. The Vice Chancellor also revealed that the institution had bought medical equipment for the prevention and detection of the virus. He added that, foreign students, especially those from Liberia had been asked not to resume to the campus as a measure to prevent the spread of Ebola virus disease. Prof. Bamitale Omole however enjoined the university communities to go about their normal business without fear or panic. He also dispelled the rumour that parents have been evacuating their children off the campus, describing it as baseless. However, the research to the cure of Ebola virus is on going in the university environment.
