NO ESCAPE FOR SINNERS TEXT: MICAH 1:1-16 KEY VERSE: “For her wound is incurable; for it is come unto Judah; he is come unto the gateof my people, even to Jerusalem” ( Micah 1:9). Sin has a way of making people believe that they can get away with anything, especially, if it has become habitual. They know the consequences of their actions but as they successfully cover up their tracks each time, they are deceived into believing that the day of reckoning would not come. But surely, they would be called to account, sooner or later. The people of Judah and Samariahad long indulged in sin that it became a lifestyle. It was an affront to God; but they did not care any more. Prophet Micah must have seemed like a nuisance as he continued to warn the people over a long period, spanning the reign of three kings that judgment was coming. God had had enough from them. He would visit them in his anger; He would uproot Samaria, burn its graven images, destroy its idols and make the land desolate. As for Judah, no amount of intercession would save her. Her wounds were incurable; there was no escape from the judgment of God for her sins. God is, indeed, a consuming fire. He would not spare sin, neither would He bear with the sinner for ever. His judgment over sin is as sure as day and night. It is therefore the height of folly to continue to ignore all entreaties to change. The sinner must hastily turn away from all his evil and wicked actions, come to Jesus by faith, and receive cleansing and pardon from his sins. Today is the day of salvation; who knows, tomorrowmay be too late. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hand of the living God.”
