Satyapal Anand One day before the biggest prize in literature is awarded, the race is very tight - at least according to betting companies. Two days ago Japanese star Haruki Murakami shared 4/1 odds with Ngugi wa Thiongo, but the Kenyan has now pulled ahead with 7/2 odds, according to the latest data released by Ladbrokes, whose bidders have made some lucky guesses in the run-up to the prize in recent years. The winner of this years Nobel prize in literature, who will take home eight million kronor (£693,000), will be announced tomorrow at noon (UK time) by the Swedish Academy. Should long-term favourite Murakami finally get the award, or is it time for Philip Roth, a last-minute addition to the highly tipped list? Algerian novelist Assia Djebar?
