NORAD Canadians, Americans & local leaders celebrated #CanadaDay today at the historic Penrose House in Colorado Springs! This event was a chance for Canadians in Colorado Springs to thank the local community for their never-ending support to Canadians since the signing of the NORAD Agreement in 1958. The Guest of Honour for this year’s event was Mr. Barry Rempel, president and CEO of the Winnipeg Airports Authority Inc., and Honorary Colonel of the 1st Canadian Air Division Headquarters. Other distinguished guests included General Chuck Jacoby, Commander of NORAD and USNORTHCOM; Ms. Marcy Grossman, Canadian Consul General in Denver and RCMP Officers Constable Anthony Setlack and Sergeant Cathy Ford The theme for this year’s event was “Canada: Much more than a neighbour” and featured displays providing information and history about Canadians and Americans collaborating in avenues such as security, economy, business, sport, art and music. Guests of all backgrounds took advantage of this year’s theme to spark conversation about common interests.
