NOT A COINCIDENCE 8th November Genesis 8:11 on 8th November Wait for the Signal. “And the dove came in to him in the evening: and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf plucked off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth” Genesis 8:11 That God is a good God should not be in doubt to any believer. That He has good plans for us should also be obvious. What is not so apparent is why believers are not succeeding as they ought to. One missing link is the knowledge of God’s timing. Divine Signal is crucial if we must make our marks on the earth. The plan you have may be God directed. Your intention may be pure. That vision, that calling may be of God, but are we running at His time? If it is not God’s timing, it would be a struggle to succeed. This is why so many businesses and ministries are struggling today-running with our own, not God’s timing. Noah spent 120 years building an ark in preparation of the Flood that was coming. Afterwards God opened the windows of heaven and the rain was released upon the earth for 40 days and 40 nights. (Gen7:11-12). Noah had obeyed God in building the ark to the specifications he was instructed to use. But Noah needed Divine Signals every step. To enter the ark, Noah waited for God to instruct him in Gen 7:1 “And the Lord said unto Noah, come thou and thy house into the ark…” After they have been in the ark for those days and nights, the Bible records that, “God remembered Noah…and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged” (Gen8:1). Noah knew that assumption would be courting frustration so he waited for the signal that the coast was clear to move out. The dove was despatched and later returned with the all-clear signal, an olive leaf. Today, the believer does not need the dove nor olive leaf. The Holy Spirit is the Guide today. We need Him because there is a time assigned to the plan that is from God to make it produce. Running with it a day before or a day after will not be good enough. As the Bible says, “To every thing there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” (Eccl 3:1). That is why the Lord Jesus said that when He, the Holy Ghost shall come, he would guide us. (Jn 16:13-16). Indeed, He warned the disciples not to dare make any move until the Holy Spirit was given because any such move will spell disaster (Lk 24:49; Acts 1:8) The success of the Church in the wilderness and the Early Church is their dependence on Divine Signals. The former waited for the movement of the pillar of fire and clouds: “And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way…” (Ex 13:21) The latter depended solely on the move of the Holy Spirit. (Act 13:2-4) The early Church depended so much on the Holy Spirit that they could say, “For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us…” (Act 15:28). For them, it was “first the Holy Ghost and then us”. Sadly, for many believers today, it is, “if it seems good to us then it must be good to the Holy Spirit”. No wonder the results are starkly different. The Holy Spirit does not need our guidance; we need His, forever! We must depend on the Holy Ghost today if we are to make our mark on the earth today. Prayer: Father, keep me sensitive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, today and for ever, I pray, in Jesus’ Name. Genesis 8:11 on this 8th November -It is Not a Coincidence.
