~ NSA spying and Edward Snowden ~ We havent yet seen the biggest or most controversial revelations out of the Edward Snowden stash of materials. New disclosures will soon show exactly who the government thinks should be spied on and what the criteria are. We will soon see that the US government is not focusing their spying attention only on the people that some Americans feel these powers are justified to be used on. Obviously they are using these monitoring powers for counter-terrorism purposes... and hopefully protecting people from plane flying terrorists or blind sheiks who have influence around the globe... but what we will soon learn about is the level to which they are focused on pre-emptive crime fighting. The fear of terrorism is being used as justification for the monitoring far more than most people would ever agree to. Apparently there is a lot of attention being focused on the potential terrorists of the future, which they consider to be the dissenters... including the social activists, environmental activists, etc. The government obviously has a MUCH broader view of what would be a terrorist than most of us do. If youre somebody who thinks outside the box and communicate your views online then you are most likely being targeted for monitoring. They see dissenters and anti-establishment people as threats. If youre like that then you may have crossed over the line into proto-terrorist territory, according to them. You will soon hear more about the level to which monitoring has been used to target protesters, including the Occupy Wall street protesters. In other words, the spying has not just focused on people who are considered to be current threats to national security but anybody who has potential for future extremist, including people who have openly expressed strong anti-establishment political views or participated in any acts of civil disobedience such as attending protests. In other words, the government is watching people who they consider to be radical in their thinking and especially those who encourage others to be more radical in their thinking. Not just terrorists. Everyday people who decide to use their brain. They gather information on each person so as to discredit them and build a portfolio so that they can publicly attack their credibility. Information warfare. We are opening the door to a government that will soon be able to get away with anything they want. Whether that is in everybodys best interests is something only YOU can decide. Feel free to copy/paste or share this information with your friends... or wait a month or so until this is mainstream knowledge. Theres a reason my computer has frozen while typing this. That I am sure.
