Jurisdictions operating under the Heavy Vehicle National Law should follow Victoria’s lead on heavy vehicle access, the State’s peak truck lobby group says. The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) has applauded VicRoads’ efforts to open up more its road network to pre-approval, saying the model should be replicated elsewhere. The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) wants state and local governments to move toward gazettes and notices to save industry from having to lodge permit applications, and the agency has made significant inroads in Victoria.
