Nazi saluting a Roma work colleague = illegal discrimination. If - TopicsExpress

Nazi saluting a Roma work colleague = illegal discrimination. If the boss fails to respond and prevent it from happening again, he is held responsible and must compensate his victimised staff member. So employers have a high duty of care. Good. Now, if I walk down the street hurling abuse at every Roma person I see, and nazi saluting them and all the rest, that, apparently, is perfectly legal. There is no effective law to stop me from doing this - even if I post the abuse on Facebook, or in a national newspaper, for example. Facebook might take it down, or the newspaper get a rap on the knuckles by the Press Ombudsman, but no-one has committed a crime or will be asked to pay a fine etc. So, is this state of affairs OK, or do we need a political response to public expressions of racism? Answers on a postcard please to the usual address ;)
