Need some opinions. I am booked for a Sep. 8th surgery to replace one or possibly all ligaments around my knee (PCL, LCL, MCL, and ACL) according to my doctor. As of now I can still walk some although I need a cane most of the time. Once I get this surgery the recovery time from the surgery before I can even walk is around 3 months according to the knowledge provided to me by my doctor. The possibility of me dislocating my kneecap again will be reduced from 40% to 10%. Additionally I get quite concerned when someone says there going to cut on me. Yes, Im worried about pain. They have already denied me a prescription change from Tylenol 3 to something stronger, so I am concerned that they dont care very much about pain. I assure anyone that doesn’t believe this is painful that it is at least until (For me) one and a half weeks later. I still have pain but I can deal with what I compare to a bee sting worth of pain. Also when I look at photos which depict a similar procedure that they want to perform on my leg I can’t help but to get a bit concerned. As this is just a “maybe this will fix it” kind of deal. I just don’t feel confident that I want to get this surgery. Considering finances… What finances I’m broke. Just the surgeon will cost 2.5 k. When finances come into play I just don’t think I want to be owing into the 30-50 thousand range especially when I am in the position of totally broke. So considering both the physical and financial impacts would you do this?
