Needless to say, the coaster and amusement park word will be abuzz - TopicsExpress

Needless to say, the coaster and amusement park word will be abuzz about Six Flags announcement of all their new rides for the season. Not that there are many surprised, since most of us knew about most of these for months. But now we have the actual details. This is the video for the entire announcement, but you can look at the individual videos on the playlist. The big one will be Six Flags New Englands conversion of Cyclone into the hybrid Wicked Cyclone coaster, converting it into a steel hybrid coaster with the original wood supports. It will feature two barrel rolls and a 200 degree upside down stall and supposedly tons of airtime. Six Flags Magic Mountain is also going the hybrid route, converting Colossus into Twisted Colossus, with the two sides combined into one dueling ride thats actually much shorter than the two sides combined. But the big news is that it will have not only two inversions that will interact with the other side, but Americas first HIGH FIVE element, where you can almost high five the people in the other train sideways. (The high five in China is AWESOME!) Perhaps the sleeper hit may be Six Flags Fiesta Texas new Batman the Ride, which is the first S&S Free Fly coaster. Theyre heralding it as a first of its kind, even though Intamin already makes a similar type of coaster. but theyre using magnetic technology to have more control over the flips during the coaster. With controlled flips, we have to to redefine what we call inversions on coasters. Coaster enthusiasts will argue with Six Flags calling their mega-fireball rides coasters. Most of us wont count them as coasters. Its kind of disappointing that 4 of their parks are getting basically larger versions of carnivals rides. Probably the most surprising announcement for me is LA Ronde getting a year-round walkthrough haunted house called Maison Rouge. Id love to see more of these at parks around the country! Also, the Arlington, Texas and St Louis parks are getting Justice League themed shooting dark rides. The DC Comics geek in my is pleased! I was amused that they used Latino-looking people riding another parks SkyScreamer to pretend that the Mexico parks ride is already built. Whitewater is getting a capsule drop slide. No surprise there. Great Escape is getting a kiddie water play area. Woo hoo! But the bottom of the barrel announcement goes to Great America near Chicago which is celebrating 40 seasons with.... restoring three old kiddie rides! Sorry, kids! https://youtube/watch?v=sffjnZ6rkk4&index=14&list=UUXBKOoy8WSXkGKxwJsOKRJg
