Neighborhood Center 2014 Fall Conference Dear Neighborhood - TopicsExpress

Neighborhood Center 2014 Fall Conference Dear Neighborhood Friends, Mayor Walsh has asked you and me to help him expand the Mayors Neighborhood Cabinet. With the increased number of organized neighborhoods lately, it is time to help welcome them into the fold of direct interaction with local government. Its also a good time to take stock of our current programs and see what we could do even better. It has been my pleasure personally to have helped create or reorganize every existing neighborhood association and alliance in Council Bluffs over nearly the last decade. Through your generous help, we managed to create a fantastic, resident-driven program -- all without the assistance of any public money or organization -- government or foundation. Just over one year ago, our successful model was adopted by the Neighborhood Center, which has now nearly doubled the number of active organizations under my leadership and model. We remain the only resident-run neighborhood-building organization in our community. We believe in helping each and every neighborhood achieve positive, proactive, legal, and ethical grassroots neighborhood-building. Ours is a record of continued success. We have been with you when it counts. We dont tell you what you need or pick and choose who we will help. We help empower you and anyone else who asks for our help to do for yourself, together, what needs to be done. Our second annual Fall Conference will this year be devoted to a discussion among representatives of each neighborhood and alliance. The president or chair of each of the groups is receiving an invitation seeking a representative at this event. The 2014 Fall Conference will take place on Saturday, September 27th, from 10am-noon, at the Park Building, 500 Willow Avenue, Third Floor Conference Room. If you would like additional information, please contact me. I hope to see everyone! You count. Regards, Council Member Nate Watson
