New feature for STALLION ON INDEPENDENCE DAY: Thank you so much Kelly Awad for featuring my artwork in Pets. It is such an honor. Description The green of summer is captured in this photograph of the Paso Fino stallion, Contratercero on the 4th of July, Independence Day, USA. Contratecero, like most stallions, love to pose and show they true natural beauty and dynamic. Paso Fino stallions are wonderful riding horses for recreational as well as competitive venues. Contratercero is now retired from competition both in the show ring where he won many ribbons and qualified in many national events as well as being a high point endurance horse with the PFHA and has won an endurance race, too. The Paso Finos journey to the Americas began more than 500 years ago with the importation of Andalusians, Spanish Barbs from North Africa, and the smooth-gaited Spanish Jennets (which actually dont exist anymore as a breed) to the New World by Spanish Conquistadors. Bred for their stamina, smooth gait and beauty, Los Caballos de Paso Fino, the horses with the fine walk, served as the foundation stock for remount stations of the Conquistadors. Centuries of selective breeding by those who colonized the Caribbean and Latin America produced variations of the Caballo de Criollo, among them the Paso Fino that flourished initially in Puerto Rico and Colombia, and later, in many other Latin American countries (primarily Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Aruba, and Venezuela).
