New subject to debate. first this little tid-bit. an official Pentagon accounting of U.S. military bases around the nation and the world, the Base Structure Report, Fiscal 2010 Baseline. According to this report, the U.S. has 662 overseas bases in 38 foreign countries Of course this is as of 2010, and we would have to believe this is only the bases that the pentagon wants us to know about, not saying there are secret bases just qualifying the numbers a little. 662 bases really, 38 foreign countries really? WTF why are we creating an empire? We have all seen what happens to empires, they go down in a ball of flames. Today I heard on the news that we have about 100 detainees still at gitmo, and each of them is costing us 1 million dollars each year to keep, When we think of the several hundred that we have had there for what, some 10 years or so, that is a butt load of money. How about this, lets bring our service people home and that way they are safe. And maybe we wont look like the worlds bully and maybe, just maybe some of those people who hate us for bombing their countries will leave us alone? Oh but of course we cant do that, we have built our economy on war making. I grieve for all of our children and grandchildren, not only are they living in a country where their rights are being taken away, they are living in a country that is hell bent on bankrupting itself just so a few fat cats can make some money killing off the poor and weak in this world. Yet we continue to reelect the same sorry bunch of idiots to congress year after year, I guess we get what we deserve. But do our children and grandchildren have to also pay for our mistakes?
