News update on 3830 and 3265 from Susan McMunn, Powerhouse Museum The Museum has provided a detailed article about the work on locomotive 3830 which will be out in the next issue of The Railway News. In the meantime I can report that 3830 has been temporarily moved to the operational area of the exhibition hall so that the RTM has room in the Roundhouse to work on constructing a new tender for their 35 class. The Museum is still awaiting the final report from the boiler inspector and once this is received then a schedule and work plan can be prepared. Regarding Locomotive 3265 bookings have been taken for heritage trips in 2014 commencing in March. In the meantime the Museum continues to undertake routine maintenance work on the locomotive. When 3265 is returned to traffic following its annual boiler inspection, 3830 will again be placed in the Roundhouse and, subject to the boiler inspector’s final report, work will recommence on the engine.
