Next time you’re stressed, do something nice for someone else. A recent study from the University of Buffalo showed that acts of kindness helped to reduce the effect of stress on the people doing the helping. And the acts of kindness didn’t have to be anything too difficult or time-consuming. Bring a fancy cupcake to a friend who you know has been having a hard time at work...do a load of laundry for your sister if she’s running out of patience with the kids...even just stopping to have a chat with a neighbor or holding the elevator door open for a stranger who has his hands full can brighten a day. So next time you’re feeling pressured, look around and see who you can help—and help yourself.
