Nipdec blanks Joint Select Committee Despite Parliament’s request, the National Insurance Property Development Co Ltd (Nipdec)—which is handling billions in procurement for the Government—will not appear before its Joint Select Committee (JSC). Last week, Nipdec’s chairman, Hamlyn Jailal, wrote to the JSC saying that Nipdec had sought legal advice on whether the JSC had any jurisdiction over the company. The legal advice was obtained from Pamela Elder SC. Jailal said the legal opinion suggested that the JSC does not have jurisdiction over Nipdec.
