No one objects to the building of flats, but the obsession with developers to make a quick buck could well destroy Liverpools music venues. Developers have now taken over the building where the legendary Creem club first opened, which is currently host to music clubs. They intend to bulldoze the classic building and build flats. This is what happened to the proposed Mersey Beat Village on the Docks which the Merseyside Development Company originally gave to me and Henry Henroid. We had all the plans, the architects and the money all the necessary finance confirmed by a major German bank that the dock was ours. Two days after we had confirmation that the dock was ours, they took it off us to give to the Merseyside Docks and Harbour Company who said they wanted it to build an on-off port there. Of course, they never built that port, they built apartments. So the Mersey Beat Village, which wold have been the worlds very first music village, never happened in Liverpool, playing second fiddle to profits from flats, and losing what would have been an incredible and unique tourist attraction.
