Noah, the movie. I liked the animals and the cosmology. The most miraculous thing about the ark is that Ray Winstone should be able to remain unspeaking and quiet on it for 40 days and nights! This film also tangentially suggests that he might have been responsible for the extinction of the dinosaurs! Mythically it was potentially interesting and toyed with some gnostic ideas, but without conviction. There was a moment there when I thought Russell Crow might reprise Javier, but this didnt quite come off. The film has the certificate nonsense about threat and injury detail but doesnt mention death by drowning, strangely! (That was a LOT of people.) The story stops short of explaining just how, incestuously speaking, the world might be repopulated by people, and avoids the Noah sleeping with his daughters in law bit, which might have stretched the certificate too far. I still prefer the Mesopotamian version: beware of pale imitations, I say! if you want to read more, then this is a most excellent book by a proper Assyriologist whose cuneiform is perfect for my taste: amazon.co.uk/The-Ark-Before-Noah-Decoding/dp/1444757059
