Nobody understands health insurance in America especially the doctors who by any definition are our learned men. So how are the rest of us supposed to wrestle with the ins and outs of a system which has its own argot, and which everyone in the industry is struggling to understand? Even the mechanics of its administration are strung together in a context which can only be successful, not if it actually delivers good health, but rather denies services in order to remain profitable. So how does one wrap ones mind around a system which must be perverse in order to function at all? No President in my life time has come into office under circumstances which were more amenable to those which had become possible during a time of Societal Crises than had Barack Obama, but he refused to face his moment, and he chose the path of center right mediocrity. Nothing which should have been done was done from banking regulation to corporate governance, to tax reform, and most significantly for most of us perhaps, in the vital area of health services delivery. Today for the first time in American History the new normal is deflation, and the model for social justice has become the chained CPI. Enjoy your can of cat food. Suck up that health care if you can figure out how to actually afford it. Hope that your kids can make it in the NFL or the LPGA, and dont pray for divine intervention. God really is dead, and your representatives dont actually represent you. You are screwed.
