Norman Gardner Wallace - 1931 - 2014 Born August 3, 1931 during the Great Depression to Oliver Madison Wallace and Isabel Marion (Kidston) Wallace of Antrim, New Hampshire, Norman was the third of five siblings. When he graduated from Antrim High School in 1949, Norman was not only in the top 10% of his class--he was the top 10% of his class. Norman always loved rocks and after receiving a book from a great-aunt showing Tulsa: The Oil Capitol of the World, he became interested in the field of geology. One of his teachers inspired him to pursue a college education. Norman attended the University of New Hampshire, and graduated in 1953, with a degree in geology. Norman also served in the United States Air Force and while stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky, he met his future bride. Norman came to Tulsa to pursue his career in 1956, and was hired by Oklahoma Natural Gas Company as an oil scout. It was here that he married the love of his life, Frona Mae Lisenbee of Harlan, Kentucky. Their union was blessed with 4 daughters. In the late 1960’s, he went to work for Apache Oil as an Exploration Geologist. In 1969, Norman was transferred to Midland, Texas and in 1972 was transferred back to Tulsa where the family has remained. In 1974, Norman helped open a Tulsa office for Davis Oil Company, and later became President of Anadarko Land & Exploration, from which he retired at the age of 52. Norman always had a wander lust, evidenced by his early adventure at the age of 18 when he hitchhiked from New Hampshire to Florida, then went on to Cuba. He made a point of taking family vacations that allowed his daughters to experience the wonders of the United States from the back of a station wagon, and spent his 30 retirement years traveling with Frona to as many places in the world as he could for as long as his health allowed. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which provided him with strength and guidance throughout his lifetime. Norman and Frona had the privilege of serving together in The Church at the Tulsa Stake Family History Center, the Dallas Texas Temple, and the Church Employment Center. His devotion to his wife, daughters and their families was exemplary. Nothing came before his family. His daughters will tell you that he was the kindest and most generous man they have ever known. Beloved by his wife, daughters, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, his memory and example will be with them forever. Norman left this earth on the 24th of June, 2014 at the age of 82, and was delivered into the loving hands of his Heavenly Father. As Frona says, “I know where he is going, and I know he will be there waiting for me.” He is survived by his loving wife, Frona of Tulsa; daughters, Sarah VanDalsem and husband, David of Tulsa; Dana Robison and husband, Scott of Norman; Janet Beers and husband, Dwayne of Reading, Pennsylvania; Lisa Burlingame and husband, Hayden of Tulsa; two brothers, Richard Wallace and Donald Wallace, both of Australia; two sisters, Beatrice Cusick of Hillsboro, New Hampshire, and Carolyn Gilmore of Bennington, New Hampshire; eleven grandchildren, Whitney Beers Schmidt, Hayden Powell, Matthew Beers, Brooks Robison, Abigail Burlingame Covington, Rachel Beers, Emily Burlingame, Hannah Burlingame, Evan Robison, Jacob Beers, and Tate Robison; and 6 great grandchildren.
