Not only a Runner, be a Fortified Runner: Every running event major or minor we see a number of runners wearing knee supports, compression bandage, colorful KT tapes and what not, smells of anti-inflammatory sprays are just too strong to bear! Is it a in-thing in running or are they forced to use all these accessories & tricks to subside pain of running injuries and finish the marathon somehow? I am pained to see what is happening around. The running in India is now at a juncture where we should take corrective measures. If earlier it was ignorance now it is all about ignoring the inevitable. Running short distances may not require serious training for amateur runners as compared to long distance runners (21K & beyond). The trainings are now easily available & affordable with so many clubs/ groups offering training. It is important for an amateur runner to remain informed about the correct running techniques, importance of training, rest, nutrition & injury prevention and management. And be a Fortified Runner like me who is running injury free since the time I took up running and improving my PB every year :)
