November 7th -- Proverbs 7:4 Say to wisdom, You are my sister, and call understanding your nearest kin. The chapter opens with the first four verses giving us principle, that will give victory over the sins which fill the rest of the chapter. The verse we are looking at refers back to the three before which all focus on the Word of God. The Word of God is the WAY to victory that the Lord has ordained! It is the WAY Jesus had victory when He walked on the earth, so if Jesus WON through the Word how much more do we need the Word! The chapter begins with us KEEPING the Word, we are to RECEIVE it and we are to OBEY it! We are to have open and hungry hearts even now, desiring to receive the Word, desiring to be fed, meeting the Lord in the Word! Then it says we are to TREASURE the Word within in, we are to hide it in our hearts, it will then keep us from sin! We are to see it as something of great value! We are to love it, prize it far above natural earthly things! We are to hold on to it and never let it go or exchange it for something of far less value! I once heard a minister say he was leaving the ministry(which is the delivering of Gods Word) to run for president of our Nation. I thought what a step down to take, leaving the Word of God and ministry which is eternal for something so temporary as politics. It was sad to me and a commentary on his heart and what he really valued. Needless to say he never got close, but he left behind a precious treasure for refuse! How do you see the Word, is there anything or anyone that can cause you to leave the Word behind? Remember when many were leaving Jesus and He turned to Peter and asked the question, will you leave Me too? Peter answered, Lord you have the WORDS OF LIFE, there is NO WHERE ELSE to go! Have you reached that place? Have you come to the end of all else so that Jesus and His Word is so valuable to you, your closest relationship which you will never walk away from? This is the place we are to live, it will be for us the place of life and the place of victory today!!!
