Now we can see first-hand how a wilderness-level protection has removed this public land from out of the public domain and turned it into a resource where its benefits concentrate to a select few. This creates a system where everyone loses. Local economies lose economic benefits from the 10,000s of visitors who don’t come because of the limits. The taxpayer loses revenue that could be used to pay for services and amenities near the park. Those who visit the park lose by not being able to plan their visit during a time that they would prefer, thus placing them in a situation where the experience isn’t as enjoyable or safe as it could be.
