Nowadays i do not speak very often,but in the past few weeks something caught my attention,the referendum about the separation of the north of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland,Scotland. As an Iranian and a citizen of the world,who wish everyone human being well,and clear sky,and perpetual peace,and as a neutral observer that the result of that referendum does not benefit me at all,i have some points to make about this important issue. I started to read and study,comments and debates,motivations and aspirations.but unfortunately i found the separatists argument so weak,lame,ridiculous and baseless. From what i have observed so far,i can divide separatists into three groups:emotional deceived voters,excited about having an independent country,they have no plan for the day after separation. Angry voters that all they want is punishing the politicians in London nothing else.and finally,malicious and racist voters that their mission is breaking up that country at any expense. As its obvious none of the above can take the right decision. Some of them argue,we want freedom!some may ask freedom from what?i never been there,but i can say they are free,you DO have freedom as you vote for separation,as you can campaign,this would be punished by the harshest punishment in other countries.in some countries strike or even a simple FB post would cost people their life. Some of them say we want to be master of our destiny.well,i think they are,they have their own parliament,their own flag,their own national teams,and as far as i know,Gordon Brown who was the UK chancellor and prime minister,was a Scot,plus,the leaders of all Britain parties pledged them more autonomy. As always has been the case,the leaders of separatists talk about very shiny future,colorful promises flying around: there will be no poor,no corruption,no cuts and the oil revenue will be distributed equally,oh! DE JAVU! As a historian,i dare to say,and more important,as an Iranian that my country experienced this before and deceived by populists,no one can judge about this better than me. All of those so called revolutionary and separatist leaders have had something in common,they always talk about the future that never comes,it usually starts out like thisonce upon a time there will be.as a citizen of a country that run by oil revenue,i assure you,not only the revenue would not be distributed equally,but there will be more corruption,injustice and oligarchy,the black curse have not saved any country,on contrary,caused more troubles,history proves. I do not know how many people that are able to vote see this,but for the sake of your country and your children,DO NOT DESCEND INTO THE DEEP AND DARK WELL OF UNCERTAINLY WITH THE ROTTEN ROPE OF THOSE SO CALLED LEADERS.they have no vision and when there is no vision,the people would perish. I do not want to talk about the murky future of your economy if you vote yes,as already all economists warned about it and many companies in rush to leave the north,i talk about what question you should answer when you vote. The question should be asked is not what what my country can do for me,its what i can do for my country,explore what problems and issues unite you instead of belaboring what divide you. No one just forms a union and benefits it for more than 3 centuries,then when problems emerges,says,well,i am off,bye!no,he will stay and work with others to solve them.
