Nutrition: Making the Right Choices One of the most important things in nutrition is to control your blood sugar levels. When we eat something sugary with HIGH GI our blood sugar levels will rapidly increase. This leads to the hormone insulin being released. Insulin sends sugar to the muscles and liver so it can be used for energy. However any excess sugar is stored as FAT. After consuming HIGH GI the insulin response will lead to our blood sugar levels dropping below the norm – causing a feeling of fatigue as well as hunger (mid morning and afternoon slumps). This then results in us grabbing another snack – often high in sugar; and so the cycle begins again! WE NEED TO BREAK THIS CYCLE
