OBAMKPA IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICE (I.E.D.) AKA BOMB Four days after I was at the epicenter of the Obamkpa blast, I cant get the incident out of my head, so I have decided to keep it in the forefront as it can be the beginning of a new awareness for Obamkpa and the whole Anioma family. I was personally affected and while there might be other plots interwoven in this sinister event, I will in my small way contribute to making sure this does not just get swept under the rug. Understand that this is my ancestral home and while there are a million things I can tell you Obamkpa as a town need, becoming known as a town where a person or persons can just plant explosives in a gathering of children, women and men of all ages without regards to life and then walk away without condemnation is not one of them. We, like every other community want the dividends of democracy to come to our town starting with the road that the Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, member representing Obamkpa in the House of Assembly has promised. We want to invite our friends and colleagues to our town. The vision I have for Obamkpa is that of a peaceful, pristine and loving town, where strangers are welcome. How do we archive the above vision? By building on this new awareness that no one person is bigger than all of us combined. That our common interest is not for sale. That we can no more be intimidated as was evident on Friday, November 2013, when virtually everybody was at the market square even after the explosion. Finally, the perpetrators of this callous and cowardly must be fished out and condemned in the strongest of terms by the town and by the authorities. No matter how high placed they might be, they must be made to answer for their dangerous act. Stay tuned, we have not heard the last on the Obamkpa Blast.
