ODI in Pink The Pink Ladies are spreading the word and helping women all around South Africa save their own lives by detecting breast cancer in its early stages with their mobile mammogram and educational units. On Sunday, they celebrated their Pink Day 18 by encouraging South Africans to wear pink to the ODI cricket and help them raise funds for cancer research in the process. The South African national cricket team joined in on the fun and good cause by wearing pink for their match against the West Indies. My grandmother died of breast cancer, and my mom and I went to get tested as soon as possible. My mom successfully beat cancer and I am cancer free. Cause like this warm my heart, the Pink Ladies are so passionate and involved with every little thing they do and they go all out for our cause, every single time. It makes me so happy to see such an amazing turn out and all this pink! Breast cancer is not a death sentence and I cant stress enough how it can be beaten if you get regular check ups to make sure there are no irregular bumps or growths on your breast tissue. It can happen to anyone, hence it is better to know as soon as possible so you can start treating it.- Gabi Brooks (29) This is just wonderful, I am not really a big fan of cricket but I lost one of my best friends to breast cancer and ever since then I have been so vigilant about this disease, trying my best to help those close to me and around me to help themselves and mkae sure they are not in danger. People are so scared of the unknown, but there is no need to fear. When you visit your doctor, have him check you out, you could be saving your own life! Encourage your female family members, girlfriends and colleagues to do the same too. It may seem like a futile exercise but it really could save your life! - Candice Rabe (36)
