OK I dont usually rant on Facebook, but I do, on occasion, when I feel strongly about something (i.e. a video touching on racial equality, the state of Alabama, journalism, etc). Thus why I am posting this video, along with my two cents. I welcome your thoughts… Although I am typically a fan of VICE News / VICE, Black, White, and Greek needs some work and especially from a journalistic standpoint. And even though I agree with most of what “Mallet” stands for and think the topic at hand needs to be addressed, it all comes down to presenting it in a more unbiased manner. I may not agree with the Greek side, nor do I care for the University of Alabama, but I still think all parties need to be represented. And not just because it is journalistically sound. In order to validate any argument, each side of the story must be told (duh) and it almost contradicts the underlying message of equality behind this story. No, I dont think its fair or right why racism continues to exist. No, I don’t like what is going on at Alabama, but Auburn isnt exactly squeaky clean when it comes to this stuff either. Regardless, something has got to change and that’s not going to happen by placing all of the blame on one side. Ive witnessed this almost passive-aggressive form of discrimination and quite frankly, I think it sucks, but it goes both ways. If anything, it seems exhausting to spend so much energy on the exclusion of others. I can go on and on. What is most important to me is not just telling this story, but telling it in its entirety. Telling it in a truthful manner, no matter how much you or I or someone else may agree or disagree with one side or the other.
