OK, genealogy fans. If have Raceland roots and are part Danos, Guichet, Quatrevingt, Bourgeois, Verret, or Blanchard, you might be interested in this family tree: https://familysearch.org/ Sign in as me: username: rdanos password: mondamin1922 Once your are in, click on Family Tree. I am Robert Danos (obviously!), and you can see how my father was Enos J Danos Jr.. When you click on the arrow above my grandfathers and grandmothers name it will Expand Tree to another generation on both sides and so and so on! Searching this tree you will see settlers direct from France (the first Danos and Guichets in South Louisiana), you will see deported Acadians (including some who died during the Great Expulsion (Le Grand Derangement), as well some of the Germans (Les Allemands as in Des Allemands!). In many cases the research goes all the way back centuries in France, Acadiana (Nova Scotia), and Germany. If you click on a persons name it will tell you what (if anything) else is known about them, such as siblings, birthplace, etc... I worked on this over several years using a LOT of research done by others and confirmed by MUCH better Cajun genealogists than me. Interestingly, EVERY Danos family tree out there, we have all led back to one single man who brought the paternal name Danos to South Louisiana straight from France - Jean Marie Danos. He was born in Tarbes, France in 1759 - the province where the tiny village of Anos still sits. He died in what was then called St Charles, the great expanse of bayou and prairie between N.O. and Lake Charles, in 1802. If you were a peasant from Anos your last name was simply from Anos or in French dAnos Voila!
