OK, relatively safe answers, but a bit short-sided. Date for 3 years? I think my 1st marriage was closer to 2 years. My current marriage was closer to 9 months (so, no kids!!!), and after 7 years its still in the honeymoon phase!!! Make good money! My 2nd marriage is about 1/3 less income than my 1st, but a FAR more loving marriage, so money isnt necessarily the win-all. Sorry Ladies, but perhaps what the author meant was the women are far more willing to stay (the LARGE majority of diviorces are filed by women) if HE makes more money. Go to church together more often. OK, my 2nd wife is far more religious, but her work schedule rarely permits her the opportunity to attend. I do, on occasion atke her folks to church. Dont marry solely for looks. Havent done that, so I cant speak to that level of vanity. Now for a few of my own suggestions. (1) Start with a Pre-nup, make it clear that NEITHER party will benefit from a divorce, in particular, that obviously means more protection for the party who enters the marriage from an elevated position of notoriety or wealth. (2) as part of the pre-nup, the couple should stipulate that if any children should result, the parents will agree to joint custody, and will not seek FOC involvement. FOC will NEVER look out for the best interest of ANYONE but FOC (seeking to maximize Title 4 incentive payments by awarding custody based on the lowest income)
