OK, so for spring campout, after twisting hubbys arm, my farm is an option for a venue if you like. $5 per person per night. Dates: available for a weekend between Friday 10th October and end of November - you choose. I only say to end of November because the absolute campfire ban starts from 1 december for our shire. Theres a chance they may bring restrictions in a few weeks earlier, it change year to year, so Id be looking more towards earlier to be on the safe side. Location : https://google.au/maps/dir/-33.538784,116.0047193//@-33.5447711,116.0270524,15z/data=!4m3!4m2!1m0!1m0 First gate on the left on Morrissey Road; corner of Boyup brook road. Lets get the restrictions out of the way first: No dogs. You remove all your rubbish from the property, burning man style leave no trace :) No interfering with the wildlife, including the magpies, I know in the city and at nesting time they can get a bit nasty, but these ones have never encountered a person being nasty to them, and we have never had any issues from them in return. Keep campfire/bonfire to one spot only, in the existing fire pit, we dont want burn scars all over the place. Similarly, we will set up an area for fire twirling, and no fire outside of this area please. We have an large (acre and a half) area fenced off for camping where the loo and shower is. Its best to keep the camping in this area because the cows will trash your camp otherwise, not kidding, and if they eat non edible things the results are disastrous... About $500 to get the vet out. Inside the fenced camping area is my garlic patch, and garden, and the shed, these are off limits - or at least no interference in the garden unless its weeding! There are three other fenced in areas elsewhere on the property that are also off limits - the vineyard, the one little fenced in paddock and the pump and tanks area. (they are further away from the camping area though) Music : yes... but theres no power connected to the property. Music off at midnight - dont want to peeve the neighbours off too much. If anyone comes to complain, music off from thereon. OK, the more interesting stuff! There is no power, and no mobile reception (most of the time, sometimes it suprises us) down in the camping area. There is phone reception on a lot of other parts of the property - a little more uphill. Its about 15 minutes into Donnybrook, where theres a couple of servos and bakeries and all the usual country town stuff, and a 7 - 7 IGA open every day of the year. Best place to buy ice too. Good fish and chips from the noneycup cafe on a friday night. theres a pizza shop (average) and another fish and chip/pizz shop, which is terrible. Two pubs, and a bottleeshop. For the fire - dont bring wood, theres basically unlimited supplies of it. Ill bring in a couple of large stumps with the tractor for the fire, and do a few laps with the tractor and yall can throw wood on to it to unload it for the fire. Theres a few taps around in the camping area - these are bore water. It has been tested and passed as drinkable, but it tastes a bit. The taps over on the sink, loo and shower are all rain water and better for drinking. Theres 10 very friendly cows and there will be new calves by then. You can feed them carrots if you want them to be your best friend. (but nothing else, refer to point above about vet callout costs) Theres also roos and emus who call the place home, we just let them be. Theres also wild pigs, but they will likely stay away from all the activity. Warning - the birds start up noisily early in the morning - kookaburras, black cockies and magpies in particular. Theres a dam for swimming. Fresh clear water, about 90 x 65 metres, about 300 metres walk from where we camp. Theres a toilet and shower, with solar lights, and a kitchen sink - on a gas hot water system, normal campground style. It is all run off rainwater tanks so we are conservative with water, Ill keep the tank topped up over the weekend though. Ill get the gas BBQ out for you; if anyone wants to bring a spare bottle that would be helpful. Ill put one on it, but it helps to have spare. Ill turn the electric fences off for the weekend so theres no shocking suprises.
