OLDFIELD MAKES IT SEVEN! Story by - SSA Video by - Aidan Skraha Ellenbrook, Western Australia | 28/9/2014 - Jamie Oldfield continued his amazing winning ways, and in the process broke Daniel Ameduris streak in the Brian Rose Memorial, as he raced away from the field in the feature to claim his seventh win in the event. Formerly known as the RDA 100, the race is steeped in history and the Oldfield name appears many times on the honour roll. There was no exception, with Jamie winning the event, but brother Jason coming second in the feature and the third brother Warren coming home fourth; the trio only split by Dale Cockman who drove a spirited race to finish third. The feature saw Jamie and Jason, each with two heat wins and a third place apiece, starting off the front row together. The two would face away at every start, but behind them was an enthralling battle as a number of different drivers tried to dethrone Cockman from the final podium position. Daniel Ameduri was the first to try as the defending champion tried lap after lap, looking inside and outside Cockman to find a way past. Cockman held him off though and shortly after, just as Jamie was deep in lapped traffic, lapping thirteenth place, Nathan Renfrey found himself backwards in turn two. Just as it looked as if everyone would get through unscathed, Landrigan came through and hit him. Renfrey was sent rear then handed his position back as Damon Lyall, who had been involved in the incident with Renfrey, headed infield with damage. This set off a chain of event with Amato moving past Ameduri into fourth on the restart and challenging Cockman. Warren Oldfield then passed Ameduri, as did Hayden Norman who slotted into sixth after earlier transferring from the b main. The yellows then came out again for what looked to be contact between Cockman and Amato that ultimately saw Amato out of the race with damage and Cockman back in his position. As the field came around again Ameduri headed infield with a flat tyre, while a few laps later Norman, who had got as high as fifth after starting in the back rows of the feature also was forced infield. Francis then headed infield after having a solid day before the yellows came on for a started car on the back straight. With just four to go on the final restart Jamie just drove away as he had done all race and was followed across the line by Brother Jason and Cockman. It was another popular win for the current Street Stock State a champion and he certainly celebrated after the race with some victory donuts. Earlier in the day Jason and Jamie both had two heat wins, while individual wims went to Jace Kempton, Warren Oldfield, Matt Amato, Daniel Ameduri and Bob Wakefield. Feature Result - 1.
