ONE MONTH FROM TODAY YOU CAN VIEW THE SKETCHBOOKS OF TVS STUDENT ARTISTS Harris Chambers, Ivy Distler, Brianna Douglas, Anne Jones and Patrick Kunkel MAY 4 at the AMON CARTER MUSEUM! The Senior Portfolio and Advanced Art Students began this year with a plan to create sketchbooks for the Sketchbook Project in Brooklyn, New York. Our students worked throughout the fall semester on specific course projects in addition to their sketchbook for the Sketchbook Project. In early January 2014, the sketchbooks were sent to Brooklyn to be digitized and to begin their nationwide tour. The sketchbook tour is March 14 through October 5, 2014 with stops throughout the United States and two in Canada. When the tour ends, the sketchbooks will return to New York where they will be permanently housed in the Brooklyn Art Library. This independently run and collaboratively based company organizes national and global opportunities for artists of all ages. Currently the art library houses around 30,540 artists’ books. The artists who have participated in this ongoing project come from over 130 different countries. This is the second year TVS students have participated. The Brooklyn Art Library is comprised of three libraries: a physical library in Brooklyn, NY, where the sketchbooks are stored after they tour; the mobile library that takes the books from location to location as they tour; and the digital library for online viewing of sketchbooks at any time. This year, we had five students – Harris Chambers, Ivy Distler, Brianna Douglas, Anne Jones and Patrick Kunkel – create sketchbooks and select tours for their work. All of their books will be digitized, and we invite you to look for their work online in addition to viewing their work in person at one of the many locations throughout the 2014 tour. The nearest local opportunity for viewing the physical sketchbooks is on May 4, 2014, when the tour stops in Fort Worth at the Amon Carter. sketchbookproject.
