ORLANDO PERFORMING ARTS CENTER OPENS ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — After years of planning and haggling over funding, Orlandos new performing arts center is open for business. The public first got a glimpse of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts last week at a ribbon cutting ceremony, and the first performances are set for this week. The glass and steel performing arts center in downtown Orlando cost more than $500 million to build. One theater in the center seats 2,700 people and a second can hold 300 visitors. A third theater for classical music and dance performances is in the planning stages. The first performer at the center is singer Sheryl Crow, who gave a free concert at the centers outdoor plaza last weekend. https://youtube/watch?v=YBzSXL8Lqfg
