OTTB and show nervousness: I took my 18 y.o OTTB mare to our first dressage show and her behavior was great until we got into the ring. At home, she had a great frame and we wouldve had great scores if the show came to us! At the show, she was whinnying to her stable mate, resisting my contact, head in the air, and ignoring my leg. I cant complain though because she got SO much better at loading in a trailer (1.5 hours on day one to less than 5 minutes coming home!), she didnt buck or rear (which she doesnt do normally but I was worried about her stress level), and she did calm down after enough walking laps to somewhat relax her head in the warm up ring. Two 56.785 percentages and two fourth place ribbons though! I figure we will only get better the more shows we go to but I was hoping to hear from any of you who had similar issues and if theyre getting better?
