OUR HEARTS ARE FULL....Not long ago we received a private message on this site that brought smiles to our faces, a few tears, a warm embrace and humbled us to the core. It is a reminder that while none of us can do everything for everyone, we can still do what we can....when we can. It is also a reminder to us all to reach out to those in our own lives to express genuine gratitude. There have been very low times, as well as just regular days, Paul and I have been on the receiving end of pure thoughtfulness from others. Things we certainly appreciated but can also tend to take for granted with a quick thank you at the time. As weve grown older, weve become more mindful we must take the time to let such dear and special people in our lives know we remember them well. And there are many! We have been doing that, and so.....it was such a gift to the both of us to receive this beautiful and vulnerable message from a young man named Chad. His words below are reprinted with his permission. Proof still again that one never knows the depths that one can touch another (plus, its another reason we love this game).....cindy Hi Paul, I see your wife Cindy does a lot of your Facebook posts but I believe you will both get something out of the story Im about to share from a gesture made by Paul years ago. I am a successful 30 year old television producer with a rough upbringing. Born and raised in Phoenix, I had a great family that loved me very much but unfortunately by the time I was 10 years old I had been born out of wedlock and didnt know my biological father. The man who had raised me and who I considered my father passed away of a bad heart, a few grandparents passed away, my four year old baby sister passed away from Cystic Fibrosis, and a week before Christmas in 1994 my mother passed away of cancer. The only immediate family I had left was my little brother Kyle and together we moved to a small cold town in upstate New York with our uncle. At the time I was an angry 10 year old boy with the only thing able to get life off my mind was my recent love of basketball and the Phoenix Suns. I knew every stat, owned every Suns players cards, and was the proudest Suns fan the team could have asked for. While living in upstate New York, I believe my uncle was the one who contacted the Suns and Paul, but my brother Kyle and I were sent a personal letter and care package full of Suns gear and nick knacks from Coach Paul. I cannot begin to tell you the thrill, escape and excitement you gave us two little sad boys who were mourning their mother. Its been twenty years now and I think of that gesture often and just want to thank you for that joy in such a dark time of my life. Soon after that care package came in, my brother and I were adopted by friends of the family; a school teacher and a minister, Ron and Cathy H. They introduced my brother and me to the Lord, and today we are both working in media ministry together. You can say your care package was the start of a new much brighter chapter in my brothers and my life....With High Regards, Chad Thank you Chad, so very much, for taking the time to share your story. You are an exceedingly special young man. Thank you for blessing us. And Merry Christmas twenty years later! With love from Paul and Cindy
