Russell, Ambassador-at-Large for #Global #Women’s #Issues will speak at the #Akilah #Institute for Women in Rwanda’s 4th annual Metropolitan Safari event in Washington DC tonight on the importance of investing in women’s economic empowerment as it relates to U.S. foreign policy priorities and the importance of public private partnerships in achieving those objectives. This is an annual event that takes place in four cities around the United States to raise support for the Akilah’s Scholarship Fund. Donations to the Scholarship Fund directly benefit young women at Akilah, providing them with daily lunches, textbooks, educational materials and more. This event provides the opportunity to continue to highlight and underscore to the private sector, philanthropists, and civil society the importance of investing in women’s economic empowerment and education as key to economic growth, peace and security.
