October Scares Week 4: Villain Songs Day 31: Friends on the Other Side from The Princess and the Frog We reached our final day in this little adventure so I wanted to end on something that was a lot of fun. :) And as far as im concerned, this song is a ton of fun. ^_^ I saw ads for this movie when I saw Ponyo in theaters and I was really missing hand-drawn animation at the time so when I saw the trailer for this, my jaw dropped and I gave my mom this smile that said, Can we go see this when it comes out? =D When it did come out, I was so happy and when it was over I was still happy. The animation was top-notch and I really liked the story, characters, and songs. :) I didnt even care they were Randy Newman, they still were great and varied. Its hard to pick a favorite song but for now Im gonna talk about this one. It starts with Doctor Facilier, played by Keith David, convincing Lawrence and Prince Naveen that he isnt a fake and how hell show them just what he can do. He guides them into his shop and performs before he starts reading their tarot cards. Prince Naveen needs money so in order to get it he needs to marry a princess and his future holds a lot of green. Lawrence meanwhile has been pushed around all his life and would be by his future wife to so Facilier promises that hell become the man hes always wanted to be. Once hes convinced them both to shake his hands, the real fun begins. 3:) He traps Naveen and his spirit friends back him up as he takes a drop of his blood and turns the prince into frog hoping hell be satisfied. If he isnt he shouldnt blame him. *sings* He can blame his friends on the other SIDE! *laughs* I ADORE the way this was shot and put together. :) It starts off relatively calm at first before sliding into a powerful and show-stopping finish. I absolutely LOVE this song and am glad to see that Disney hadnt lost its touch when it comes to their musical numbers. Actually, I was happy that their traditional animation was still fantastic and beautiful. ^_^ https://youtube/watch?v=yZAY-78zhmw So that was October Scares month!
