Odds Against Tomorrow (1959 ) is a multileveled heist movie with some beautiful cinematography. Its the first film noir starring a black actor. The ending is a homage to another classic. Talented Robert Ryan is surly and mean. Ed Begeley plays a broken down ex cop who tries to hold the plan together. Belafonte is bright and fresh. All are desperate. The racial conflict begins in an unexpected way right off the bat! “Its just one role of the dice. Doesnt matter what color they are so long as they come up seven.”
