Of cultural preservation, the museum proudly hosts the launch of the Afa or Sennit weaving documentary video made possible through collaboration among MESC, US Embassy and the Tiapapata Arts Center. The video highlights the processing of the sennit and thoughts from the traditional sennit weavers and fale Samoa builders. The fale Samoa exhibition was added onto this room in collaboration with the American Museum of Natural History, and through the Museums Connect Fund under the States Department of USA,. Images for the fale Samoa exhibition were donated by Philippe Lair, French architect- photographer and illustrator to the Fale Samoa book published by UNESCO Office of the Pacific States Apia. Today the launch of the sennit documentary directed and produced by Galumalemana Steve Percival begins at 2pm and will include key note address by the Chief Executive Officer of MESC, Matafeo Tanielu Falanaipupu Aiafi, and remarks from the U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Officer – Ms. Emily Armitage, and a 30 minute viewing of the documentary filming of the Samoan sennit. The US Ambassador Funding for Cultural Preservation is credited for much of the financial support for the sennit exhibition and documentary. If you wish to view this documentary you can come to the museum or purchase a copy from the Tiapapata Arts Center whose details are in the invitation attached
