Oh, how time flies. Already, its 8 years since the Prime Ministers press secretary was shot and killed. I am sure he is missed by some, perhaps many, though unfortunately he is hardly remembered or recognized by the many for the valuable contribution he has made. To many, his death and the sequence of events that followed are events which cannot so easily escape memory. Soon, it will be 8 years - just on the eve of World Press Freedom Day - since I was dismissed as editor of a weekly newspaper following a number of POLITICAL INTERFERENCE - though some may have it advanced that I went against a decision made on how the Glen Jackson murder should or should not be reported. The political interference came after I questioned the reason and haste with which request was made for Scotland Yard investigators even before the local investigators had arrived at the scene of the body of Jackson. The issue then was whether Scotland Yard was brought in because the local investigators were unable to investigate properly by themselves or because of Jacksons status. I also pointed out that, according to known history, of all the times Scotland Yard was known to have been involved in investigations here there is no known record that anyone has ever been arrested, charged, convicted and imprisoned for the crimes.
