Oh, what a Proud Puppy, am I! Waggle Waggle Waggle E:ob… A year - TopicsExpress

Oh, what a Proud Puppy, am I! Waggle Waggle Waggle E:ob… A year ago I wandered around the streets of Down Town with a couple of clowns while the Pride Parade marched gayly forward. At that time I was an unknown stray in Portlandia. Since then I have garnered a 2013 Alpha Omega Santa Con Trophy, competed in PDX PNW Best in Show 2013, I have been sighted roaming all over Rose City and met some verrry interesting individuals. Soon we get to march again with our Queer Family and Pack Mates. I am so excited to play in the games that I had to get out and see what some of the others that “follow their weird” are planning on getting themselves into over Pride Week. In an effort to sniff out the good stuff that Portlandia has in store for us over pride, I have been running the perimeter and askin’ around. I started with tracking down the Queen of Drag Out. (For those of you not familiar with Drag Out, Bolivia Carmichaels invites all the Queens in town to join her every other Wednesday during summer, at CC Slaughter’s at 6p for a pub crawl.) As they parade from bar to bar through Downtown they cut through Pioneer square (The perfect spot to cross their path, I thought). Bolivia showed up with a whole court of other Queens. I was so excited I almost wetted myself. It’s not to often you see a Kingdom of Queens out in the day light (Well, since Peacock in the Park anyways. Earring, Earring, Broach, Tiara Ms. Peacock). Being that Bolivia had not met Dober prior to this encounter, I did wonder how I would be received. Being the gracious host that she is, she took the kiss I offered, and even kicked my ball in a game of fetch. The rest of the Kingdom was delightful and just as willing to kick my ball as Bolivia had. Thank you for kicking my ball Bolivia, you are Pawsome! Having been received as well as I had at the Red Park I decided it was time to check out CC’s, so Last Friday I stopped in. They were very welcoming and assured me that EVERYONE, regardless of individual personal biological details, is served equally. They also expressed that Fetish Wear is more than just ok, they encourage it. With such a greeting I decided to stay, have a few cocktails and dance the night away. I had a wild time and will be seen enjoying the atmosphere at CC Slaughter’s over Pride Week and well into the future. I look forward to the Pack joining me there for a night out soon. Bolivia here we come! I also attended the Pack meeting after Puppy Mosh 5 at Master Blue Wolf’s, The Haus of Blue. The Mosh had a nice turn out with more in attendance that toes and tail with many new faces joining in on the fun. By the time the meeting started many of the pups were all tuckered out, some even curled up at their master’s feet for a puppy nap. (so freakin’ adorable E:ob…) I found out PDX-PAH will be marching in the Parade with Blackout Productions (Thank you Blackout Productions for takin’ in the Pack this year). If you are interested in following the doings of PDX-PAH you can find them on Facebook, Fetlife, pdx-pah and you can also follow them on Twitter. As you get yourself ready for the Festival of Pride remember to support local businesses. I know we are all busy and the internet is a great way to save time shopping. However, there is nothing like holding the item in your hand or trying on a leather garment before spending your allowance for something that doesn’t fit properly or is poorly made. There are many local owned shops that put the money back into our community by spending local themselves and sponsoring events like Pride, groups like PDX-PAH and many other community support organizations, so we can enjoy an open, safe, welcoming city with abundant resources to pull from. Don’t forget to check out you local venues during Pride week. They are another major contributor to our local community. Some local owned businesses that are Dober Approved include: RETAIL BUSINESSES Aparaphilia Blue Spot VENUES/SOCIAL HOUSES CC Slaughter’s Scandals Commodore Embers Three Friends Coffee INFORMATION RESOURCES Proud Queer Monthly THE DAILY PAUSE, Life Outside the Yard (Launching July 2013 at dobermdogg)
