Ohio in the Country. Scrappy browns, reds, whites/off whites. Last December I finished a king sized quilt as a gift for a couple who lived in Istanbul where we were going to visit--it was a hostess gift as well as an appreciation gift--we were going to stay there a night--and my husband had gone there several times and stayed with them. The wife told me she loved cappucino brown and red. I didnt think I was a lover of brown, so I kind of groaned to myself. As I worked on her quilt (Ill put it last in the pictures list), I began to fall in love with these colors. Ever since then Ive wanted to make something else (or maybe more than one or two) with these colors. Last week I sat down to my computer and my Electric Quilt program and began to play around with red/white squares. OK, OK, I was starting to try to draw up Bonnies pattern that is in one of her books which I dont have (yet--its on the plan to buy when I go to the states in a couple of weeks), and I started with these red/white 4 patches. Then, I kept making changes. I had always wanted to try make the Ohio Star quilt block--and liked the look of reverse (worked in graphic design as a teenager and through college at a newspaper), so I ended up with these. I decided to name it...and it was a little problem. The red/white screams country to me, so Ive named it Ohio in the country :/ Enjoy. Ive included in the pictures my EQ drawing/layout and the last picture is the granny square quilt I made for my friends in Turkey.
