Ok, ANC is still zero. His platelets have dropped so he should be getting a platelet transfusion any minute now. To explain the ANC and the reason he is here a little more clearly because I know some people have been curious...His ANC is basically a calculation of everything in his blood and reflects his immunity. Hes considered high risk for infection anywhere from 0-500. During that time he is also most susceptible to getting a fever. We were admitted based on Pierces fever not his ANC. Once admitted though, they wont release you until they see that his counts are recovering. If his counts arent recovering they wont release him knowing he is at a high risk for infection. Also while his counts are zero they are giving him an antibiotic through his port to help protect him from anything. I am not one that jumps to medicines but in this situation I know this is all in his best interest. We are no longer in the natural world so my more natural thoughts dont really apply, unfortunately. The good news is that he is doing great! Hes acting completely himself and just ready to go home. He looks like he is ready for his counts to sky rocket at any point, just hoping and praying its soon...like today!! :) We truly are in great hands while we wait, the nurses here at Wolfsons are definitely the best weve seen!
