Ok, I need to address a few things about the MILL DOGS again. Im getting TONS of messages about Sugar......and these apply to Cinnamon too: 1. Physical fence. No underground -- they may never understand such a concept. And since you cannot catch them now WITH a physical fence, there is no way you would do it without a visible fence in their eyes. They would gladly take ANY shock to get away from you, the scary human. 2. Transport. We will not fly, or ship with a courier, any dog, let alone a Mill dog. If you are wanting to adopt a dog from RSBR, you must travel to pickup. Weve had people drive 12+ hours to adopt from us, and we think that shows great commitment by the adopter. We have dogs in MD, AL, IL, MI, WI. 3. Mill dogs have NEVER been in a home. We do know they keep their kennels clean and dry, but have no idea how they will do with potty training inside a home. 4. These dogs are afraid of EVERYTHING....phones, tvs, windows, mirrors, ceiling fans, toys, vacuums, shovels, lawn mowers, etc. You may have to shut off things, cover windows/mirrors/oven doors, and put things away for weeks if not longer. Large open spaces are scary. 5. No small children. These dogs have never met kids. They will only be placed in a home with kids over 12 yrs. We have no idea how they will react with children and their activity level/play. Therefore, to protect children and the mill dogs, homes will need older children. Also, they are frightened of baseball caps -- as the workers must have worn them. They are more afraid of men than women. And in my videos you will see them approach me. But that is their trust of me, not you or another human. They will not come to you when you meet them. They will retreat to the behavior shown in the very first videos -- shut down in the corner frightened to death. Trust is earned by you, and it takes time, but it does happen!! A week in your home will show you a completely different dog, but its not easy, extremely heartbreaking and a slow process. Please do not bother applying if your not willing to stop your life as you now know it, to commit to one of these dogs. Cause they will not slide into your home like any other dog. They need compassion, love, tender touch, and a soft loving voice for a long, long time. ;)
