Ok, help me out here. I have been told by a single professor that I have trouble with communication. So I decided that at this stage it is probably best to review some past work and go through what I have left in terms of student and professor feedback and such from the course of my college career. While I have found that sometimes my points, ie: written in papers, may have been considered vague, the overall message was always clear and concise. These reviews extend all the ay back through Owens. (yes, I liked some of my journals and projects from as far back as my first composition course and just had to keep them). I have found that this professor is the only one who attests to my lack of convey-ability. A recent example from another class this semester involving student and teacher sentiment lists me as: Dude has his shit together. He showed me to realize the instructors concept. He takes command. His direction was organized and he basically became our groups director. Helpful. etc... While I believe that this means the instructor has done her job well, I have been told Im not qualified to make an assessment like that on such a matter by said professor. I find that to be in bad taste, only because the rating of how well a professor does her job is the whole reason for evaluations of the class which are partaken in at the end of every semester. Another classmate upon hearing my plight, directed me to several course review sites, in which other students have apparently had the same issues. I am not the only one with whom a communication issue was raised. I find it hard to believe that so many students have had these commonalities, but the reviews span years dating back to 2008. This leads me to ask the question: does the problem lie with me at all? I do not believe that further talking things out with said professor will yield anything new, as we have reached an impasse of personal vice and neither one of us is willing to budge viewpoints. Professional wise, the professor is unwilling to acknowledge and accept most criticism and critique from any of her her students, and this trend has gotten worse over the semesters with this one being an all time high. I have had this professor before for several classes but have never seen these actions take place to such a degree. In the name of my own professionalism I have kept the professors name anonymous because I only wish for feedback pertaining as to whether or not any of you have faced/are facing a similar situation, and if so, what did you do about it, and what are your suggestions for me? Yes, this may be my last semester, but this is still bothering me to an extraordinary degree.
