Ok, so I had to buy a new PC a couple months ago, and I heeded DFs advice and got 8 GB RAM. I usually run my farm on the laptop and all the other windows on the PC but periodically, when my laptop is being stupid, i opened the farm on the new PC. Good grief! It ran like a top!!! Even with 127 other windows open!! So, I just updated my trusty laptop to 8 GB RAM (from 4) and it is running and loading farms like a champ!!! Just loaded EC on it and it did just fine. I had been getting crashes and slow loading quite frequently on it with both Chrome and FireFox (and the 4 GB RAM), but I think the extra RAM has already made a difference. Moral of the story: DF is (mostly) always right and 8 GB RAM is waaaay better than 4...... :-D
