Ok who knows Sandys Stimpson? Because I have an idea. Actually three ideas. Here goes: If we are going to let all those developers mow down acres of beautiful trees and bulldoze over wetlands, I think a few things should be required. They have the money. Make them do it. First: they need to build a really nice covered playground. Nothing chintzy. Dont be cheap. Benches and tables with playground built for kids from toddlers to older elementary school kids. The playground should also be built to welcome children of all physical abilities. Wheelchairs and walkers welcome and accessible. And for the love, cover it. We live in south Alabama. Cover it or its too dang hot half the year to enjoy it. Second: A walking and jogging track should be built around the perimeter of the shopping area. Well lit and safe with benches along the way. Third, a splash pad. Did you hear me?? A splash pad!! How in the world does a city our size not have a splash pad?!! Thousands of parents drive from Mobile to the Eastern Shore or to Lucedale to take carloads of children to the splash pad! We need a splash pad! Need. Not want. Who can pass along this message for me??? You guys know as well as I do that half those stores are probably going to close. Half of it will be vacant stores before two years is gone. What will be here when those developers have come and gone? Families. Lets build something that matters.
